Kurzes Hallo aus dem sonnigen Vegas - Quick Hello From Sunny Vegas

Wollte mich nur mal wieder bei allen melden. Uns geht es sehr gut, das Wetter ist schon hochsommerlich warm (ueber 30 Grad aber am Wochenende soll's windig und kaelter werden) und ich bin ziemlich beschaeftigt. Habe am Wochenende die BodyStep Ausbldung bei Les Mills mitgemacht und das war ziemlich anstrengend. Koerperlich und mental. Nun muss ich alle 3 Monate noch eine 2. komplette Klasse auswendig lernen. Aber was oll's das haelt einen geistig auf Trab.

Just wanted to sy hi to everybody. We are doing great, the weather is fantastic (over 90 degree but is's going to be windy and colder over the weenkend) and I am pretty busy. Took the Les Mills BodyStep certification and it was mentanlly and physically pretty chalenging. Now I'll have to lear a second whole class routine every 3 months. But that's only going to keep my brain busy.

Then directly joining an assembly of the senat where the honorable Shelley Berkley (the Nevada representative in Washington)gerade an dem Tag eine kurze Rede haelt (und das tut sie nur einmal im Jahr). Schade dass sie ein paar Sachen durcheinander bringt und davon spricht, dass die Saudis doch ein von Terroristen unterstuetztes Land waeren...

Carson City -
ein Bilderbuchstaedtchen, wo wohl viele Szenen von Bonanza gedreht wurden. Leider ist die Pondersona Ranch momentan fuer Besucher geschlossen und wir konnten nur einen Blick durch den Zaun erhaschen. Ja, ja, die guten alten Zeiten...
- a cute little village where parts of Bonanza took place. Unfortunately the Ponderosa Ranch is closed right for visitors and we could only catch a glimpse through the fence. The good old times... Das Staedchen liegt ganz malerisch in den Bergen
The village is surrounded by hills

und gleicht wirklich mehr einer Filmkulisse als einer richtigen Ortschaft.
and seems more out of a movie than real.

Man kann die Pferde regelrecht durch die Praerie traben hoeren ;-).

You almost mean to hear the horses ;-).

Auch wenn heute das Fortbewegungsmittel auch hier das gute alte Kfz ist.
But surly even here you would use the good old car.

So, heute endlich mal wieder Fotos und Neuigkeiten von unserem Wochenendausflug.

Fangen wir mal mit Reno an:
Let's start with Reno:
Und natuerlich mit meiner neuen Haarfarbe (ein aelterer Herr im Hundpark bemerkte so nett, dass meine Haare einer Ampel gleichen wuerden ;-)).
And with my new hair color (as an older man at the dog park mentioned, I am looking like a traffic light ;-)).

In Reno blinkt alles aehnlich wie in Vegas und man kann natuerlich spielen. Man fuehlt sich hier also gleich zu Hause.

Lights in Reno are blinking similar to those in Vegas and you can gamble. Feels like home.

Und Spass macht es, rumzufahren.

And it's fun to drive around.

Wie man sieht ist Reno die "GROESSTE KLEINSTADT DER WELT".

And this is the "BIGGEST LITTLE CITY OF THE WORLD".

Palapa

So, jetzt mal ein paar Bilder von unserem "Neubau".
Here some pictures of our newly built palapa.Es ist doch toll, wenn man so tatkraeftige Unterstuetzung von Cole (der die meiste Arbeit gemacht hat), Glenn (der Planer) und Manny (die Zierde) bekommt.
Thanks for the help of Cole (who did most of the work), Glenn (who was head planner) and Manny (who makes it look really beautiful)!Unser Elvis denkt natuerlich, dass wir nur fuer ihn diese tolle neue Hundehuette aus Stroh gebaut haben.
And Elvis is sure that we just did build him a brandnew dog hut.So sieht's dann aus wenn man drunter steht (und es rauscht so schoen und riecht so gut).

Unser Garten sieht nun noooch schoener aus.
Doesn't our backyard look even nicer now? Und hier noch unsere offene Feuerstelle, die auch Cole fuer uns gemacht hat.

Hiking (Bergwandern) - mal wieder mit Glenn

Fortification Hill

Blick von unserem Ziel Fortification Hill (ein schlafender Vulkan direkt am Lake Meat). Hier wollte man frueher (lt. Auskunft eines Parkrangers) ein Fort bauen, daher der Name.
